My Make-up is pun with colors - MUA Onaope

Beauty is an energy we all possess that comes from the soul and radiates through the skin and face. Today, we speaking with Make up artist, Beauty influencer and content creator “Babarinsa Onaopepo” about her artistry, journey and challenges she has faced in the game.

What's your name?

My name is Onaopepo and it means so many ways to give thanks but everyone calls me Onaope.

What inspired your makeup artistry business?

I have always been a really creative person since I was little so it came to me naturally. I was that child that would draw on their notes and on the walls, every where I could find and I love experimenting with color. If I wasn’t into make up, I’d still be an artist of some sort.

How did your brand name come out?

It’s just my name and the first letter of my middle name.

Are you self taught or you learnt from

someone?

I learnt the basic rudiments of make up for three months under the tutelage of Betvikkies_ Muas .

I also watched a lot of YouTube videos and tried to recreate challenging looks from other make up artists.

Tell us about your learning process?

It was really fun. I looked forward to learning something new everyday. I’m still learning till now and when I see a challenging look or any form of inspiration, I get really excited.

I love to challenge myself each time because I get easily bored.

What's the most exciting part of your job?

When I imagine a look in my head and it comes out perfect or better still, when I do a clients make up and you can see that they love it.

What challenges have you encountered since you started this business?

People tend to think you’re unserious or uneducated and try to take advantage of you because you’re offering them a service. Also some brands I’ve worked with try to exploit me without pay .

Also I hate when clients delay me.

Which Makeup artists inspires your craft or you looking up to?

This is very hard but @tiaad_tutorials inspires me a lot. Her make up is unreal.

@jackieaina is someone  I look up to a lot.

Vanessa gyimah , Lhidhia Stanley and Dimma Umeh are also close to my heart.

To My Next Girlfriend

I love to drink my action because it speaks louder than words,
And if I ever make a mistake just kiss me and tell me how to walk,
With your feelings and watch me be the best hero in your city,
I might say nothing to others because I know they want something,
But to you my everything you should know my anything,
I love to wake up next by your side and let my hands take a stroll down the line,
Where it crosses hells gate and watch you waters cool down my mind,
My favorite color is blue because when I look up I still want to think about you,
I have been hurt in my past life but in your arms I just want to feel right,
Love kiss you and treat you like Romeo when he found love,
I'm a heartless thug whos life has been hooked on the line,
But don't be scared of heights because I'll teach us how to fly,
Some days will be rainy but I promise to be the rainbow that comes after the storm,
And when the rain is gone our fire will never be disturbed,
Because you're my favorite song that comes on unannounced,
Lets cheers and create memories take polaroid's and stay enemies,
Because one day i'll become your worst memory.

Full Vol Care Package EP by 4Runna Is Mixed With Melodies From The South

Jonny Ezi Tochukwu known professionally as 4RUNNA is a Nigerian hip-hop recording indie artiste, rapper, song-writer and producer born and raised in Port -Harcourt. His sound is a healthy mix of early melodies from all around the world carefully laced with poetry straight from his heart, giving listeners a sense of belonging and warming them up to the apparent soul and ear grabbing nature of his music.

His early influences include the likes of Lil Wayne, Kanye West ,Jermaine Lamar Cole etc. Growing up in a household that held the music of the Jackson’s,
Presley’s and John’s to high standards, 4RUNNA was surrounded by a lot of timeless records and as such, grew up wanting to make art that could represent something similar for generations yet to come. He started work on his debut project “On A Count Of 3” initially due summer 2020 but pushed back due to the Covid Outbreak.

To make up for the postponement a 3 pack titled Full Volume Care Package (Stylized as) “Full Vol Care Pckg” is scheduled for release sometime
in December. Asked on what his view on success as a hip-hop indie artiste from Port Harcourt would feel like, he replies “Right here and now, I feel like I’m standing outside on a windy night with my palms covered, lighting one matchstick after another, throwing them into the dead of the night hoping that one gets to start a fire. Getting a fire started would definitely feel like hitting success as an indie artiste from these parts, I might not be that guy that sets off the fire , but I’m
sure as hell going to be one of the reasons why it’s going to be lit.”

Would Be Gone By Esmerelda

i miss us,

the moment we shared,

The time short,

We used to text each other at the same time the feelings we had,

The feelings people saw and beefed us beefed me

I miss it so much,

When I used to write for you,

You’d look at me and tell me you loved me,

Where is that love we shared?

Gone... I guess

But it’s alright

I could do a week without you. . .

I did it once,

But it was really the most dreaded feelings,

We had shared something,

It is like a bond between us,

In one place,

Bear it in mind that, one day, you wouldn’t see me

You’d want to feel me but I wouldn’t be there

You’d want to reach out to touch my lips

But. . . I’d be far away

Because I wouldn’t be there

.

I don’t want to do this,

I don’t want to let you go,

But. . .

You keep putting a lot of girls above me,

You knew. . . I was still there when you need me,

I dunno how I’m gonna live without you,

Now that I’m dating but I still have a broken heart,

How long would this last?

.

I can’t think straight,

When you’re done playing around,

I know you’d come back around,

Maybe not today,

Neither is it going to be tomorrow. . .

One thing I know for sure is

You’d find me but you wouldn’t see me

Because I’d be far beyond reach

My heart is being withdrawn from you

Away from you

I’m almost like a stranger and all you want to do is apologize

I ain’t a kid no more

We’ve gone this far

It’s alright if you want it to end it.

I had survived once

And I can do it again many times

I know teenage love never last

It always ends one day

Because . . .

It’s either you get tired

Or you find someone better

Well if you have

Good luck with it

And ill-luck to me for sticking around for too long...

A Story Or A Poem

I don't know if to call this a story or a poem but I hope you enjoy it,

He wasn't feeling straight on himself then he had to check on his friends,

Little did he know he was far from his ends but his girl was rocking a Benz,

Met up at the bar with a glass in her hands too pretty to be true,

Curvy lady looking set her smile fire she lit my jet,

Let's fly out to a place where no one can relate,

I take you like my brother and love you like my mother,

But I can't assure you a relation even if we sailing in ships,

Moods changed and couple days she was feeling pain,

I understand the pressure of sitting on the fence,

Hoping you make a dollar or you create a chance,

My OG said Loyalty is rare If you find it keep it,

Because this ladies will always hurt you when they are probably busy,

Then the pressure kicks in dressed in Nike,

Just to messed up all we built and you allowed it,

Flowers on the ground and all you could do was sniff through it,

Positivity is everything you will be needing to raise above the storm,

Even when they hate you please still carry on,

Because this life is a battle and only the strong can live on,

Never let your present determine what is in the future.

Meet Civilized Villagrr: A man expressing his ideas and views through murals and art on his city walls

Art is like the sun,it shines and brings light to the dark corners of our society and in our country Nigeria we can't deny the emerging of young hungry artists on the rage to take over the city for good with their talented gifts of art. Today we spoke with Chibikem Obasi popularly known as Civilized Villagrr who is on the path of greatness expressing his ideas through murals and street art.

Tell us about yourself?

yo i’m civilizedvillagrr, i’m artist, street muralist and an art director based in Lagos, Nigeria. i love creating & designing what so ever comes to my mind to create, was born 14th Dec. i play video games & basketball just for the fun of it.

As an artist, what does art mean to you as a person?

Art is a means of self-expression for me, i express myself creating mostly on walls, canvases & digitally, i also doodle.

In our society ,art is less or not appreciated enough ,why do you think so and what can we do to bring back our art culture?

the way things are going on it’s going to be a lot harder even, but i can’t really speak for the masses we have a lot we are facing in our society. the best way we can bring back art culture; me, you and every other person needs to keep doing what we are doing and do the least supporting for artists in today’s society.

A follower of your art will see that you never repeat your designs ,what bells the cat for you?

i just try not to put so much pressure on myself, i paint what i see. we all use colors but how well? and also consistency putting in that work back to back.

As a creative it's hard juggling your passion and real life issues, where do you get ideas for your art ?

the most high first off then my environs i go about & see things the colors in lagos yo!! everyday when you step out you’d see funny things so i’m that kind of artist.

Are you a self taught artist or you went to an art school?

i’m self taught.

How do you determine the prices of your art?

the content & the size.

Did you always want to be an artist? How did your journey of art start?

yh i mean i had the idea of studying something entirely different, started of 2017 a friend asked me to create some pieces for his event that he had faith in my works im like oh wow, from there the spark ignited.

What role does an artist have to play in the society?

i can’t really say, i mean we have the tag artists so i guess it’s just to use our skills to pass messages to the society

What's your most embarrassing moment?

oh can’t say, that’s just for me alone

What memorable responses have you had to your work?

ahh i’ve heard a lot, i’m still hearing but all praise to jah for the ones that’s been heard in total.

Weed101: Beginners Guide For Smoking Marijuana

I know you're excited about this but let's not forget this special plant isn't legalized in our country yet but we ranked the 3rd most users of Marijuana in the world, who are the people using it? Me? You?the president?. Let's be guided, almost everyone you meet or have met smokes weed and as a beginner you should be aware of what you're smoking and how you should be smoking inorder to experience difficulties that might stop you from smoking forever or endangering your health or sanity.
One of the first things you should know about weed is that there is more than one high. Sativas and indicas are the two main types of weed. Both strains get you high in different ways and you should be able to differentiate between each without making mistakes. Sativas are mainly known for their "piney and cerebral high while Indicas are mainly known for their deep colors and body high. Some people choose sativas to get their creative juices flowing. Others light sativas up to reach that happy and cruisé mood while when you smoke an indica, the high's effects are felt throughout the body. Some people choose indicas to relieve pain or if you ever need help falling asleep indica has got the best trips for you. Some dealers in your city might be trapping (selling) on a low to avoid stories that touch so for you to have those numbers on speed dial you must appear to be trust worthy and a “sabi boy”.

No matter your urge to try out new strains as a newbie, PROCEED WITH CAUTION especially if you're new to smoking.

If you're taking an edible for the first time please  DON'T EAT THE WHOLE THING AT ONCE. Many first timers make the mistake of gobbling down an edible and becoming overwhelmed by its effects, you might not cross back the line of sanity and you're OYO (On your own).

For a city like Lagos where Marijuana is not legalized but we use it like it's legal, as a newbie you should know some ultimate rules to follow when trying to smoke a bud so you don't end up in the wrong hands.

•Please be mindful of your surroundings when you spark a blunt, you don't who is watching.

•Don't be the one that pressures others to smoke.

•Make Sure to Inhale but don't be scared to cough when necessary.

•Always ask before smoking in other people's houses.

•Don't be the guy who ONLY talks about weed.

•Be mindful of your limits: you CAN get too high.

•Don't smoke in front of kids you're not MAD.

•Respect people around you who might not like marijuana.

•Hydrate Like an Athlete.

•Never Smoke With Sketchy People.

•Build your smoking pack.

Get To Know:Sara Bloom

Saralee "Sara Bloom" Payne, an upcoming artist from Jamaica, who is multi talented in song, poetry  article and speech writing, drumming, singing, cooking, dancing event planning, speaking and teaching. Born on December 25th, 22 years old and she have been writing since 13 years old, then I started writing more seriously at 18 years old and as time progressed she got the inspiration to start releasing my creations in 2018 at 20 years old. She made herself available to perform at whatever open mic events she could and The Apollo Series by Simon The Writer was always welcoming. Soon after recording my first official song with producer JLL, I decided to start building a fanbase by uploading it to my soundcloud. Every one was really pleased to see me make that move. “Sara Bloom is art in herself, as an essence that seeks to emanate peace, love, unity and good vibes. Everyone knows I'm good for that. My music and poetry can be about anything surrounding sound and unsound emotions, life experiences, controversies or just vibing. I would say I'm in the genres of Hip Hop, RnB with a little Jazz and Reggae bit not limited.  I’m a groovy person, naturally I just love to dance, sing, think and express, so it goes together for me”.
I am also always interested in encouraging others to trod on a journey that allows them to discover themself and all they can do. Which is especially why I've decided to be a curator for art shows that are inclusive of multiple artists with different art forms, bringing forth vibes that are unusual from a typical party.
While she's creating new songs and also pending a deal from a Record Label, I'm the director for the performing arts department at an Early Childhood School in Spanish Town, where she officiate Dance and Speech classes with 3-6YROs. In the meantime, I'm self developing in every way possible. I'm planning on releasing a poetry book and album in a couple months. I don't operate with a fixed team but there are people who I have been so grateful for working with, who recommend and assist me from time to time. Sometimes my content exposure gets delayed because of not being able to execute ideas with limited resources or not having a sustainable team but at the same time not having sponsors did not stop me from curating two events 9 months apart. I know time and opportunities can be mysterious and I'm very humble yet determined about where I am and where I'm going. I'm really looking forward to all the beautiful and talented people I will meet along the way. I'm hoping to have bountiful connections and endless playing records. To wrap up, Sara Bloom just Blooms, flows, and grows especially if fed worthy truths and hopes. Click Here to listen to her Songs
