YARDEN STEPS INTO HIS DEBUT ALBUM ERA WITH “SO DAMN FINE,” A RETRO-TINGED INTRODUCTION TO ANGEL

After building an audience through millions of streams across his previous singles and EP, Yarden is ready to introduce the world to his most complete musical statement yet. Following Sunset In Paris, he shared So Damn Fine, the preceding singles from his debut album,

So Damn Fine immediately reveals one of the ideas at the heart of ANGEL; Yarden may be Gen Z, but his range didn't ignite from modern music.

Opening with retro-pop textures reminiscent of an earlier era of pop and R&B, the record pairs nostalgic instrumentation with Yarden’s distinctly contemporary Afropop delivery. Layered male and female backing vocals surround the production, while chants of “sexy” and “Yarden baby” give the record the feeling of a performance unfolding around him.

At its centre is a woman who knows exactly who she is. Yarden describes her as “sexy, special, smart and highly intellectual” before turning the record’s central question back on himself: “You get plenty money, can you spend it on me?”

It is playful, confident and intentionally cheeky, but beneath that is Yarden’s admiration for a woman whose attraction goes beyond appearance.

Sonically, So Damn Fine offers the first glimpse into the wider world of ANGEL. Across the forthcoming 13-track album, Yarden moves through Afropop, Afrosoul and Alternative R&B, drawing from the warmth and musicianship of earlier generations while interpreting those influences through the perspective of a young contemporary artist.

That contrast runs throughout the project: old and new, romance and sensuality, intimacy and movement, nostalgia and Gen-Z immediacy.

More importantly, ANGEL demonstrates Yarden’s growth without abandoning the choices audiences already associate with him. Even after listeners repeatedly asked him to make his songs longer, Yarden largely retains his signature concise, approximately two-minute approach across the album; allowing each record to make its point without overstaying its welcome.

Gingsen blends Brazilian funk and African Rhythms on ‘Lambo Woes’

‘Lambo Woes,’ the new single from Ghana-based melodic rap and pop artist
Gingsen, explores the stretch where hard work hasn’t yet paid off and the choice
between quitting and pushing on starts to weigh heavily.

Built on a 127 BPM Brazilian funk foundation by producers Optimix Brains and
Cowbowy, the record layers African rhythms over the beat to keep the energy high
and the sound grounded. Gingsen pairs a hook designed to stick with verses that
reward repeat listens, so the song works as both a mover and a mirror.
Honest rather than glamorous, ‘Lambo Woes’ offers no easy answers, only the
reminder that anyone stuck in their own grind isn’t alone.

Entertainment Week Ghana 2026 kicks off with second Creative Economy Incubator

Entertainment Week Ghana has officially kicked off its 2026 edition with the return of its

Creative Economy Incubator and Deal Room for a second year, continuing its mission

to connect Ghana’s creative industries with business, technology, capital and

institutional support.

Following its inaugural edition in 2025, Entertainment Week Ghana is returning with an

expanded programme spanning entrepreneurship, investment, music, fashion, film,

visual arts and live experiences. The 2026 edition will include the Creative Economy

Incubator and Deal Room, Entertainment Week Ghana Summit, an art exhibition in

partnership with Sankofa Gallery, the second edition of Atalé and the return of Airwaves.

The Creative Economy Incubator was introduced during the first Entertainment Week

Ghana to identify and support entrepreneurs building businesses, technology and

solutions for the creative industries. The inaugural programme attracted more than 50

submissions, with Seudio emerging as the winner and receiving GHS 50,000 to support

the development of its business.

For its second edition, the Incubator and Deal Room will continue connecting selected

entrepreneurs with expertise, mentorship and opportunities across technology, artificial

intelligence, finance, legal, monetisation, business development and investment.

Partners supporting the wider Incubator and Deal Room ecosystem include Paystack,

WeWire and Google, bringing technology and business expertise into the programme.

The initiative reflects Entertainment Week Ghana’s broader ambition to move the

conversation around Ghanaian creativity beyond talent and visibility towards the

businesses, infrastructure, technology and capital required to build a sustainable

creative economy.

Building on the inaugural Entertainment Week Ghana

Entertainment Week Ghana launched in 2025 as a multi-day platform connecting

Ghana’s music, fashion, film, art and wider creative industries with business,

investment and institutional support. The inaugural edition received backing from the

Ghana Tourism Authority, Black Star Experience, National Film Authority and Ministry

of Youth Development and Empowerment, with Konica Minolta serving as a major sponsor.

Strategic collaborators included Ashesi Student Council, Bravado, Akuna Pod and Lynx Entertainment. The

official launch brought together figures from government, entertainment and the wider

creative sector, including Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment George

Opare-Addo and media personality Abeiku Santana, signalling the platform’s intention

to connect creatives with institutions, policymakers and business leaders.

The inaugural Entertainment Week Ghana Summit subsequently brought some of

Ghana’s most influential creative and business voices into one space. Participants

included internationally recognised Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama, AfroFuture CEO

Abdul Karim Abdullah, GUBA Enterprise CEO Dentaa Amoateng, Rex Omar, Jewel

Thompson and other industry leaders.

Executives and representatives connected to major global brands including Hennessy

and Diageo also participated, bringing the corporate and commercial side of the creative

economy into conversations around the future of Ghanaian entertainment and culture.

Atalé brings fashion, culture and nightlife together

Fashion became another major pillar of the inaugural edition through the Atalé Fashion

Party, which brought designers, personalities and cultural figures together for a different

approach to presenting African fashion. The programme featured brands and designers

including Christie Brown, Free The Youth, Bloom by Edzi, Kula Perry and Atto Andoh,

alongside personalities including Salma Mumin, Mauli Gavor and Nana Akua Addo.

Jamaican dancehall icon Beenie Man also attended the event.

Hosted at Treehouse in Accra, Atalé was positioned as more than a conventional

runway show, bringing fashion into conversation with music, nightlife, personalities and

contemporary African culture. The format forms part of Entertainment Week Ghana’s

wider strategy of developing individual cultural properties that can grow independently

while remaining connected to the larger creative-economy platform.

Airwaves expands the platform into music and live experiences

Music was represented through the inaugural Airwaves Beach Festival at SI Beach,

staged in partnership with Lynx Entertainment. The programme combined live music

and DJ performances with producer-led sessions, wellness activities, masterclasses

and wider industry conversations, creating an experience that connected entertainment

with professional and cultural development.

UWA Captures the Rush of Falling in Love on New Single “Fallin”

The emerging artist delivers a melodic and
emotionally charged record about vulnerability,
attraction, and giving in to feelings.
Emerging artist UWA is set to release “Fallin,” a
smooth and emotionally resonant new single
that explores the intoxicating feeling of catching
feelings and slowly surrendering to someone
who has captured your attention.

Produced around warm, atmospheric sonics and
infectious melodies, “Fallin” finds UWA in a
vulnerable space, reflecting on the uncertainty
that comes with developing genuine feelings.
The song captures that moment when attraction
begins to evolve into something deeper—when
keeping your emotions in check becomes
increasingly difficult and falling for someone
starts to feel inevitable.

Rather than presenting love as perfectly
straightforward, UWA embraces the tension that
comes with it. “Fallin” explores the excitement,
vulnerability, and uncertainty of opening yourself
up to another person while knowing there is
always the possibility of getting hurt.

UWA's melodic delivery gives the record an

intimate quality, allowing the emotion behind the

lyrics to sit comfortably alongside the song's
laid-back, contemporary production. The result
is a record that feels equally suited to late-night
listening, romantic moments, and those quiet
moments when you're trying to make sense of
your feelings.

At its core, “Fallin” is about losing control in the
best possible way—the realization that you've
become emotionally invested before you even
realize how deeply you've fallen.

The single also introduces another layer to
UWA's artistic identity, showcasing an ability to
create music that is emotionally accessible
while maintaining a distinct sonic character.
With its infectious melodies, relatable subject
matter, and effortless replay value, “Fallin” is
positioned to connect with listeners across the
Afrobeats and Afro-R&B space.

As UWA continues to build momentum and
establish a sound of his own, “Fallin” represents
a confident step forward—one that puts
emotion, melody, and storytelling at the center of
the experience.

Beyond Brand Influence: How African creators are shaping policy and governance – the role of Influencer Africa

For a long time, people thought African digital creators were just here to sell products
for brands. But as the first-ever Africa Mindset Reset Forum opens today in Kigali,
Rwanda, things are changing. Digital creators are no longer just making
advertisements, they are helping to make important rules and shape the future of the
continent.

To make sure young people have a voice in these big decisions, Influencer Africa
collaborated with the African School of Governance (ASG) to bring the crucial voices of
new media directly into the conversation.

Giving Young People a Seat at the Table

The event, hosted by ASG, takes place from August 25 to August 26, 2026. Prominent
African statesmen and policymakers are in attendance, including Rwandan President
Paul Kagame and former South African President Thabo Mbeki.
But the organizers made a very important choice: 80% of the people at this forum are
young leaders.

Through this partnership, Influencer Africa is helping to make this goal a reality. The 34
creators they helped bring to Kigali are not just there to take photos or make simple
videos. They are there to speak up, share the real struggles of young Africans, and
explain hard political topics to millions of followers back home.

For a long time, young Africans have been left out of the big decisions, says Israel
Laryea, Executive Head of Influencer Africa. By bringing these 34 talented creators to
Kigali, we are making sure our youth are not just listening, but are actively helping to
build the Africa we all want to see. They are the true voice of the present.

The Creatorthon: Preparing for a Mindset Shift

This collaboration started before the main forum even began. To set the stage,
Influencer Africa hosted a special "Creatorthon." This was an intimate, highly
interactive session that brought the creators face-to-face with ASG leaders and forum
speakers.
The Creatorthon was designed as a two-way street. It successfully prepped the creators
for the heavy policy discussions ahead, but more importantly, it gave the leaders a
chance to sit back and listen. During this session, the Creators shared their own
grassroots experiences and outlined their unique contributions to driving a real mindset
shift among the African youth.

From Just Talking to Taking Action

The main goal of the forum is to change how Africans think. It is about moving away
from just talking about unity, and starting to build real solutions that work.

For these digital creators, this is already how they live. The internet does not have
borders, and they know how to work together across different countries. While this
historic delegation features creators from 12 specific countries, their digital reach
extends far beyond that—spanning across the entire continent and deep into the global
diaspora.

This curated group ensures full representation from every corner of the continent: North,
West, Central, East, and South Africa, successfully bridging the gap between
Anglophone and Francophone communities. Creators such as Emilien Bejuandem
Tengungwoh, KALIGBE Roxane lidwine, and Frederique ange Karell Dablé are standing
shoulder-to-shoulder with policymakers. They are joined by vibrant storytellers like
Meryem Belkihel, Kemigisha Fiona, Alum Scova, and Turamuhawe Christine Joy, who
are bringing unique regional perspectives to the table. Also lending their massive digital
weight to these critical governance discussions are Léna Habib Mbaye, Redemptha W.
Nsanzugwanko, Eyoel Abrham Talargie, Theshaya Naidoo, and Aissata Esperanca Sy.

Representing the entrepreneurial drive of the youth are Susan Mwongeli Munguti,
Iremide Adeoye, Abdelbasset Manfouchi, Joshua Boye-Doe, and Mahder Pawlos wako.
Alongside them, visionaries like Banele Rewo, Kennedy Odhiambo, Vanessa Zuba
Mutesi, Sara Sitr, and Tito HARERIMANA are actively translating these high-level talks
into everyday digital language for their audiences. Rounding out this powerhouse team
are Solange NISHIMWE, John Seyiram Kofi Amegatse, Emmanuel Kumah Abronyeh,
Ejemeka Obisinachi, Natasha Smith, Funmilayo Safi, and Darina Kayumba—each
proving that the youth are ready to take charge of the continent  narrative.

Westhanboyz back with a new chune NITRO.

Westhanboyz are an Afrobeats duo from Port Harcourt, Nigeria now making moves from
Lagos whose music was never meant to stay quiet. What started as freestyle sessions
during their early school days quickly became something far more intentional by two young
men from the south of Nigeria realizing they had more to say than words alone could carry.

The sound is a careful balance of wavy and rooted, melodic and honest, traditional in spirit
but limitless in range. Drawing inspiration from their Southern Nigerian heritage and
influenced by artists like Burna Boy and Drake musical impact. Westhanboyz craft music
that lives at the intersection of emotion, rhythm and raw truth. It speaks to the highs and
the random fluffs of life with equal heart.

With notable tracks like Highway, Diallo and Red Line already finding their way into the
hearts of listeners. The real confirmation came when fans began repeating their lyrics back
which has turned their music into a source of healing, clarity and connection.

Westhanboyz are building more than a catalog they’re building a movement rooted in
identity, emotion, and connection. As they continue to push beyond the boundaries of
Afrobeats, the duo remains committed to telling their story on their own terms and creating
music that resonates far beyond where it began. Their sound is distinct, but their ambition
is global.

The triple nomination marks another significant milestone in the young artist’s career
as she continues to establish herself as one of the exciting new voices in
contemporary Afro music.

Born Kate Addai Mununkum in Amsterdam to Ghanaian parents, Kay Kamz draws
inspiration from both her Ghanaian heritage and European upbringing. Her music
blends Afrobeats, Highlife, Afropop and Afro-soul, creating a distinctive sound rooted
in heartfelt storytelling and expressive vocals. Her songs explore themes of love,
personal growth and human connection, resonating with audiences through
authenticity and emotion.

songwriting and signature Afro-inspired sound and ‘Hate on Me’ earlier this year.

Reacting to the nominations, Kay Kamz said: “The sound you hear is me. What I
bring on board is me and tweaks from the people around me. I am not only blessed
but also favoured that my sound appeals to the mass. I am honoured to be part of
the awards and to be nominated in these categories. I can’t wait to see what the
future looks like. A special thank you to the people around me who have had an
impact in my musical journey, Emerit and all board directors”.

The Emerit Music Awards continues to spotlight and celebrate the next generation of
musicians shaping Ghana’s dynamic music scene. The awards scheme is dedicated
to recognizing rising Ghanaian creatives who are making notable contributions
across a wide range of musical genres.

With three nominations at this year’s awards, Kay Kamz’s growing impact and
unique artistry continues to position her as one of the promising talents to watch in
the evolving music landscape in Ghana and beyond.

A MOVING BODY OF WORK ROOTED IN RESILIENCE, FAITH, AND PURPOSE

Nigerian Afrosoul artist Kendickson unveils Life Series, his most
personal and accomplished body of work to date. More than an album, the eight-track project
is a deeply reflective exploration of struggle, healing, resilience, faith, and hope, transforming
lived experience into a universally relatable soundtrack for anyone navigating life’s defining
seasons.

Following the emotional honesty of his previous project, Love Series, Kendickson expands
his storytelling with a project that chronicles the realities of becoming. Built on Afro-fusion,
Afrosoul, R&B, alternative influences, cinematic production, and introspective songwriting,
Life Series captures the emotional weight of surviving hardship while discovering purpose
beyond it.

The album is drawn directly from Kendickson’s own life. At just twelve years old, his father
suffered a stroke, thrusting the family into years of financial and emotional uncertainty. By
seventeen, his mother had left home, leaving him, as the eldest child, to shoulder
responsibilities far beyond his age. Four years later, the loss of his father became another
defining chapter, deepening both his grief and his dependence on faith. Rather than allowing those experiences to shape his limitations, Kendickson transformed them into the foundation
of his artistry.

Across Life Series, every record represents a chapter of that journey. Opening track “Life”
reflects on growing up in Lagos while chasing a future beyond circumstance. “Kwechiri (No
Gree)” revisits painful family memories, confronting stigma while celebrating resilience and
the triumph of faith over adversity. “God’s Plan” serves as a motivational anthem for
dreamers navigating rejection and delayed success, while “Nobody (Akonuche)” explores
betrayal, discernment, and the difficult lessons learned from both life and the music industry.

As the project unfolds, its emotional tone gradually shifts from survival to restoration.
“Remind Me” embraces forgiveness and healing, while “Exotic” celebrates renewed
confidence through vibrant Afro-fusion rhythms infused with Igbo musical influences.
“Shine” stands as one of the album’s defining moments, a heartfelt prayer from an artist
longing to be seen after years of sacrifice. Closing record “Understand” offers one final
reflection on the personal cost of ambition, acknowledging the delicate balance between
pursuing purpose and preserving relationships.

Sonically, Life Series effortlessly blends Afro-fusion, soul, hip-hop, R&B, alternative music,
cinematic instrumentation, and African rhythmic textures into a cohesive listening
experience. Kendickson’s distinctive vocal tone carries emotionally rich melodies while his
songwriting moves seamlessly between vulnerability, spirituality, philosophy, motivation, and
poetic reflection. Every song feels deeply personal without losing its universal appeal,
creating an album that comforts, challenges, and inspires in equal measure.

Rather than centering itself on suffering, Life Series ultimately celebrates endurance. It
speaks to anyone carrying grief, rebuilding after disappointment, pursuing impossible
dreams, searching for healing, or simply trying to keep moving forward despite life’s
uncertainties. The project reminds listeners that difficult seasons are not permanent, and
that today’s struggles can become tomorrow’s testimony.

The title Life Series reflects Kendickson’s belief that life unfolds in chapters, with every
season shaping the person we eventually become. Where Love Series explored matters of
the heart, Life Series documents the resilience required to survive, evolve, and ultimately
thrive.

Quamel returns with addictive new single ‘Intent’

The Afrobeats star’s latest release is pure addiction–a vibe that will keep drawing you in
for more. ‘Intent’ is now available to stream across all major platforms worldwide.

If the likes of ‘WoTo’ and ‘Lisa’ kept you in a daze last year, get ready for something just
as catchy. Quamel builds on the energy of these releases with more sweetness,
opening his 2026 account with a lively love song that invites all to surrender to its
intoxicating rhythms. And the pull is strong with this one.

Produced by SkyBeatz, ‘Intent’ will feel familiar to Afrobeats devotees, but in the best
way possible. It is utterly addictive, with the crooner’s vocals quickly indulging you right
from the start as he seeks to woo the love of his life. Soon enough, you will be belting
out the refrain, “Where my baby dey ah?!” with him–the part that captures his deep,
yearning pulse.

Released under Ryz Music Entertainment, Quamel keeps his momentum across the
years, once again delivering a song that doesn’t just play, but loops in your head long
after the beat fades.

RCee delivers a thriller with new ‘Money Makes The World Go Round’ music video

Ghanaian singer-songwriter RCee has released the official music video for his song,
‘Money Makes The World Go Round (MMTWGR),’ delivering a gripping cinematic
experience that blurs the lines between love, crime, and betrayal.

Far from a conventional performance video, ‘Money Makes The World Go Round
(MMTWGR)’ unfolds like a short film. The story follows RCee and his lover as they flee
after making away with a suitcase believed to contain a fortune. With relentless
pursuers closing in, the pair are forced to trust each other while navigating a dangerous
escape.

As the tension builds, the narrative takes an unexpected turn. In a dramatic act of
betrayal, Rcee’s lover abandons him in an attempt to secure the money for herself.
However, the twist arrives moments later when she realizes she has escaped with the
wrong suitcase, proving that greed can cloud judgment and that every decision comes
with consequences.

Directed by Elroy Salam for Amin Studio, the visual combines suspenseful storytelling,
stylish cinematography, and strong performances to create one of RCee most
ambitious music videos to date. The production reflects a growing trend among
Ghanaian artists to elevate music videos beyond traditional performance clips,
embracing film-inspired narratives that deepen audience engagement.

The release continues Rcee’s commitment to delivering immersive visual experiences
that complement his music while expanding his artistic identity.
