#GETTOKNOW:JOYCE OLONG

Joyce Olong is a Nigerian singer, producer and songwriter who within a couple  years of subtle input into the alternative music scene, has been able to capture many discerning ears with her sound, vibrations and lush lyrics.
Her style is greatly influenced by Northern African sounds and rhythms infused
with RnB, Reggae and Soul. Growing up open to unique vibrations, she listened
to the eclectic sounds of Gregorian chants, Arabic music, Reggae, Motown, the myriad of Nigerian and African genres and with a focused and thorough dissection of Hip-Hop and country pop music, she was able to improve her songwriting skills.
Joyce Olong carried on with her exploration of music at college in Canada
where she was a member of the Roots African Caribbean Society and featured
as one of the singers at the yearly event called CultureWave, for two years.
In October 2017, Joyce released her first solo project, a five track EP titled Merci Beauté which is a series of letters of gratitude to the women in her life.
She has performed at shows in Lagos like Majek Fashek’s 30yrs on stage celebration, Felabration, Aké Arts and Book festival, Sterling Bank’s Cafe One sunday sessions, Afropolitan Vibes’ Urban Sessions, 90s baby and Berlin’s Pop Kultur Live @ Soda Salon.
As a featured artist/songwriter she has appeared on songs by artists like Paula
B, Muyiwa Akhigbe, Yinka Bernie, Goldkeyz, Tim Lyre, Odunsi, and DOZ.
