Jamaican Young Talented Artist Is Set To Conquer The World.

Art is everything the world can have and more and in our world today, Art has spread like a wild fire and it's rapidly growing among our creatives. We moved our radar off Nigeria and we discovered a young Jamaican female artist who is indeed blessed with the chakra's of art. Monique Kidd is an art illustrator who's currently attending an art institution in Jamaica. We spoke at length about her inspirations and challenges.

Tell us about yourself?

Monique Kidd: I'm an individual that basically lives her life for art and art only. I don't have much hobbies unless observing the people around me for inspiration  counts. I attend an art institution that is on the verge of driving me crazy but I live for the experience and somewhere along the line I still find time to work as a part time illustrator.

At what point did you discover your gift of Art?

Monique Kidd: I really remember  discovering my gift. It just happened, one day I just decided that drawing would be my thing and it was.

How do you juggle doing Art and school work?

Monique Kidd: I work with the motto
"Don't stress over things u can't change". It's helped me through the most difficult times. At the end of the day I have my panic attacks like everyone else but somehow I make it work.

Whats your source of inspiration?

Monique Kidd: My Jamaican bg plays a heavy role in everything I create. The issues, the sexual and the gimmicks .

As a person, what does Art mean to you?

Monique Kidd: Art means, having an escape that not many persons can really relate to, it provides an outlet in which persons can just be their genuine self without judgement.

What impact do you want your art to make in the society?

Monique Kidd: Selfishly my art is for me, I just chose to share it and it just happens to make people laugh, smile or just feel something.

Whats your most embarrassing moment since you started Art?

Monique Kidd: The most embarrassing moment has to be the first time I had to speak in front of a crowd about my pieces. It wasn't a case of not being able to articulate words about my creations, I just suffered from a fear of public speaking.

Whats your view on youth empowerment?

Monique Kidd: I think the youth have the ability to shape the future into whatever we want, unfortunately majority of us are full of sh*t and refuse to see the bigger picture, instead we embrace a "fight fi me alone " mentality.

How can our readers connect with you on your socials?

Monique Kidd: it's kidding_art on Twitter and Instagram.
